Obituary

Sharron Orr, 79, passed away at her residence on April 9, 2023, in Baker City, Oregon.

Sharron was born in Elgin, Nebraska, to Lowell and Iola Kohl on August 18, 1943. The Kohl family left Nebraska in the early '50s. They first went to Scottsdale, Arizona, and from Scottsdale, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho. From Idaho, they went to Parkdale, Oregon, before landing in Union, Oregon, in 1954. Sharron's father, Lowell, begins a career at the Union Mill, as did his brothers-in-laws Melvin and Don Mooney and Buck Ivan. Sharron's brother Merlyn joined the Airforce in 1954, and her brother Kenny followed suit joining in 1956. Sharron was a High School Graduate of Union High School.

Sharron married Chuck Chase in 1956. They lost two babies before welcoming two daughters, Kelly in 1963 and Karen in 1966. When Chuck began working on constructing Interstate 84, Sharron followed along with her daughter, raising Kelly in a travel trailer. After that, they settled in Union, where Karen was born. Sharron worked at a hamburger establishment with a friend. She peeled a truckload of potatoes during her years there, which inspired the name of her first horse, Spud. During these years, she loved horseback riding in the Wallowa Mountains to go hunting with her family and friends.

In June 1974, Sharron married Don Orr in Weiser, Idaho; Don and Sharron remained married until Don's passing in July 2008. The two had many adventures along the way, raising children, growing businesses, and making lifelong friends. Don and Sharron owned several different log trucks throughout the years; Don spent his time hauling logs while Sharron worked at being an expert in the world of food service. A job that she immensely enjoyed and took pride in. Sharron was well known for her sense of humor, quick wit, her ability to joke and tease her customers while giving them exceptional service.

Sharron enjoyed going to the Rodeos, watching her son and Grandkids participate, and sitting around the trailer and visiting with anyone and everyone, as she did not know a stranger. Not only did she enjoy hitting the Rodeo trail she enjoyed going camping with her daughters, time by the campfire, and riding in the ATVs. Again, memories to be cherished. Those memories will be cherished forever.

Before Sharron's passing, it was her explicit wish that she did not want to have the traditional funeral. She wanted a Celebration of Life, and a Celebration of life is what she is going to get. For those wanting to attend, we will have a Potluck on May 6, 2023, at the Community Connection Building, 2810 Cedar Street, Baker City, Oregon, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Bring a dish (optional) of your choice and join us in honoring an Amazing woman who touched many.
