Sara Louise Liddell

Sara Louise Liddell, a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many, passed away on September 1, 2023, in Baker City, Oregon, at the age of 84. She was born on December 15, 1938, in Norwalk, Connecticut, and her journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and accomplishment.

Sara's thirst for knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English from Skidmore College in 1960, and in 1984, she earned a Masters in Counseling from Oregon State University, a testament to her determination and commitment to helping others. Her career path was diverse, from her early days as an Assistant Manager at a Macy's store in California to her work in Social Services. Her versatility and drive were truly remarkable.

Sara's life was defined by her deep love for her family. She was married to John Paul Nelson, and together they welcomed four wonderful sons into the world: Andrew, David, Matthew, and Peter. Although life took them on separate paths later, the bond they shared as a family remained strong.

Sara found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. She had a green thumb and took great delight in tending to her garden and working on her yard. Her love for yard sales was well known, as was her passion for staying informed by listening to the news. The soothing melodies of classical music were a source of comfort to her.

Among her many accomplishments, Sara considered her greatest to be the nurturing of her four boys and the achievement of her Masters in Counseling. Her dedication to both her family and her profession was truly inspirational.

Sara is survived by her four sons, Andrew Nelson of West Richland, Washington, Matthew Nelson of Baker City, Oregon, Peter Nelson of Baker City, Oregon, and David Nelson, also of Baker City, Oregon. Her legacy lives on through her 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Patterson Field-Liddell and Anne Charles Judson Liddell.
