Lorna's story began in Baker City, and it was there that she blossomed into a remarkable individual. She graduated from Baker High School in 1964, after which she pursued her passion for beauty and became a skilled beautician. For 45 years, Lorna worked as a beautician, many of those years being self-employed. She left a trail of beauty and confidence in her wake, making a lasting impact on those she served.
Throughout her life, Lorna knew love and companionship. She married Roy Dowdy, with whom she had one son, Jerry. She later found love with Mike Beam, who sadly passed away in 2021. John Beam became her life partner, a bond that brought immeasurable joy to both their lives.
In her leisure moments, Lorna found joy in various pursuits. Gardening allowed her to nurture beauty, much like she did in her profession. She adored her pets and found solace in the company of animals. Camping by the Snake River or amidst the mountains, boating on open waters, exploring the coastline, and the thrill of family gatherings all held unique places in her heart. Lorna's spirit found its rhythm in dance and occasionally tried its luck in casinos.
Her heart was dedicated to her community, evident through her volunteer work with Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. Lorna's faith was central to her life, as she was baptized at the First Christian Church, embracing her spiritual journey.
Among her numerous achievements, Lorna held her roles as a mother and grandmother closest to her heart. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Trina Dowdy of Baker City, Oregon, as well as her life partner, John Beam. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Mason, Trenton, and Kimberly.
Lorna's memory is carried on by her brothers Jerry Hall of Wasilla, Alaska, and Tracy Hall of Baker City, Oregon, along with her sister Sandra Rounsville, also of Baker City. She leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorna Darrelene Beam was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Margurette Hall, as well as her first husband, Roy Dowdy, and her second husband, Mike Beam.
In honor of her memory, memorial contributions can be made to Best Friends of Baker City through Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel at 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
