Helen Elaine Lefever, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 13, 2023. Born on January 18, 1939, in Baker City, Oregon, Helen was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her.
After living in various states in her younger years, she returned to her beloved Baker City to raise her family. She worked in several local businesses, including the bowling alley, Smith Brothers moving, and Marvin Wood Products, where her hard work and dedication were well-known and respected. However, it was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that truly defined her. Helen was the loving mother of nine children, grandmother to 23 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to an additional 23, each of whom she loved unconditionally.
She also shared a special bond with her life companion, Frank A. Colton, for 40 years. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Helen is survived by her children , Paul Shaw, Gwen Baker, Bryan Shaw, Chery Evitt, Jo Wisdom, Dennis Lefever, and Sandy (Lefever) Berry along with her brother Larry Watson, sisters Mary Zemmer and Sharon Brainard, and brother Mike Watson. She is also survived by her significant other, Frank Colton.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Robert Watson Sr. and Irene Watson, her son Jerry Shaw, daughter Jean Main, brothers Richard Watson and Robert Watson, sister Joanne McClain, and sister Donna Rupe.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Helen's honor on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon. We invite all those who were touched by Helen's life to join us in celebrating her remarkable journey.
