Gloria Lee Gordon, age 92, of Baker City, Oregon, died on October 30, 2019 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City.
GG, as she was affectionately known, was born October 11, 1927 in Detroit Michigan. She grew up during the depression and moved with her family wherever her father could find work. She ended up in California where she raised her five children. At the age of 51, Gloria realized her dream of owning a used book store. She opened Secondhand Prose in 1979 and enjoyed 21 years in the book business. Even after losing her ability to read, GG continued listening to books on tape every day.
Gloria is survived by her sisters: Joy Goetschius, Rochelle Campbell and Vicki Piper; her children: Steve Stadler (Andrea Stadler), Leslie Stadler Heron (Paul Heron), Randy Stadler, Gretchen Stadler (Barbara O’Neal); her grandchildren: Geoffrey Patterson (Melissa Martin), Mitchell Owen (Anna Greenwood), Josh Bystrom (Tenneil MacMaster), Corrina Stadler, and Brianna Stadler; and her great granddaughter Betty Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Clara Houghtaling; son, Christopher Bystrom; and daughter in-law, Sabrina Stadler.
