Katie Noelle Helman of Baker City passed away October 1, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Baker City. She was 24 years old.
The family of Katie Helman invites you to join in celebrating her life on October 20th at 3:00 PM at Baker Christian Church, 675 OR-7 in Baker City. Dress is casual. We request you bring your thoughts, prayers and fondest memories of Katie. A small reception will follow.
Katie was born in Portland, Oregon to Darin Helman and Donna (Whitmore) Helman. Her sister Lindsey was only 18 months older and was Katie’s best friend and teacher throughout her life.
She lived in Newberg until she was 3 years old and then moved with her family to Milton-Freewater before eventually settling in Baker City. She let her family know that Baker was her favorite place to live. She loved traveling, visiting family and new places but she always wanted to make sure she was coming back to Baker. She finished high school in 2015. She later got a part time job at Lefty’s Taphouse.
Katie brought so much joy and happiness into her family’s lives. She lived each day to its fullest and didn’t worry about what was to come or what anyone else thought. She loved singing, dancing, playing on her iPad and phone. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her dad, mom, and sister. Whether it was snowmobiling or 4-wheeling with her dad, going to the beach, zoo, or shopping with her mom and sister, she was up for anything. She brought color and direction to her family and to friends she met along the way. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her parents, Darin and Donna Helman, her sister Lindsey Helman, her grandparents; Marilyn and Miles Thompson, Donald and Jenny Whitmore, and Carolyn Helman; her Aunts and Uncles on both sides, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her Grandma Louise Whitmore, Grandpa Terry Helman, and her Aunt Kari Delint.
Donations can be made to the Katie Helman’s Memorial Fund c/o Donna Helman at Umpqua Bank.
