A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Eagles Lodge #3456, 2935 H Street, Baker City.
Jeanette was born on February 17, 1940 at Oregon City to Gladys and Clarence Staggs. She was the youngest of five sisters.
Jeanette married Bob Slobig in 1965, and in 1973 they moved the family to Baker City. Jeanette will be remembered by many as one of the best waitresses that they ever had. She wasn’t quiet about her work, but you got what you ordered the way you ordered it. The Baker Hotel, the Fireside, and Inland Café were just a few of the places she worked. But while working at The El Greco Restaurant and Lounge she met Silvan Calhoun who offered her a job at The Haines Steakhouse where she spent the last 20 plus years of her career.
Jeanette is survived by her four children: daughter, Tina Petralia and her husband Tim Rick of Baker City, Oregon; daughter Tracey Warner and her husband Scott of Baker City, Oregon; son, Troy Slobig and his wife Cory of Yakima, Washington; and son, Tom Slobig and his wife DeeAnn of Zillah, Washington. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Dilworth, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanette’s honor to Best Friends of Baker through Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel at 1500 Dewey Avenue, Baker City, OR 97814.
