Hazel Pearson, age 83, passed away on January 11, 2018 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Following the service, the interment will be held at the North Powder Cemetery.
Hazel was born on November 26, 1934 in Keating, Oregon to Avon and Ethel (Plummer) Baird. She attended and graduated from Baker High School in Baker City, Oregon.
Hazel married Alvin D. Pearson (Mick) on October 11, 1953 in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Her occupations included being a home maker, fish hatchery worker and elder care. She worked for Oregon State and Evergreen Services and retired in 1998. She enjoyed bowling, camping, hunting, fishing and crocheting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hood River, Oregon, Grace Baptist Church in Kennewick, Washington and Women’s Bowling League.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Brenda McClary of Pasco, Washington; her sister Ruby Phillips of Pendleton, Oregon; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Fettig of North Powder, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Avon and Ethel Baird; her sisters Stella York, Ellen Roop, Viola Lewis, Reba Hansen, Gladys Coon, and Belva Rayle; and her brothers Tom Baird, Avon Baird and David Baird.
