Edward L. Dove, age 94, of Baker City passed away on January 20, 2019 at his residence at Meadowbrook Place. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Gray's West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Baker City. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, and a reception will be held at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral Parish Hall following the service.
Ed was born on January 17, 1925 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Marie (Kronschnabel) Dove. On July 12, 1947, Ed married Alice Mae Mapes in Barnum, Minnesota. Together they had two children, Laura and Richard. He was self-employed as a roofer from 1964 until his retirement in 1986.
Ed enjoyed wood working, cribbage, hunting, fishing, camping and pinochle. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, and the Grass Roots Cribbage Club of Baker City.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Bunch of Lakewood, Colorado; son, Richard Dove of Gresham, Oregon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Dove; brother, Tom Dove; sisters, Mary Lou Coppernoll and Doreen Coppernoll; and grandson, Christopher Dove.
