Mary Jane Brattain, 75, passed away on August 28, 2017 in Tallahassee, Florida at the Big Bend Hospice House. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Baker City Christian Church in Baker City, Oregon with Pastor Jesse Whitford of the Baker City Christian Church in Baker City, Oregon, Pastor Mike Whitford of the Canyon Springs Christian Church in Middleton, Idaho and Pastor Bob Whiteman of the Reedsport Christian Church in Reedsport, Oregon officiating the service.
Mary was born on November 24, 1941 in Monticello, Florida to Walter Ward and Ruby (Howell) Ward. She attended Jefferson High School. On June 30, 1983 Mary married Thomas A. Brattain in Paisley, Oregon.
Mary's occupation was being a rancher's wife. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, gardening, canning and cooking. She was a member of the Baker City Christian Church and a volunteer at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Mary did many great things in her life but the accomplishment she was most proud of was raising four beautiful girls and creating a strong family bond.
Mary leaves behind her husband Thomas A. Brattain of Baker City, Oregon; her daughter Vicky Schroeder and son-in-law Todd Schroeder of Tallahassee, Florida; her daughter Cindy Whitford and son-in-law Mike Whitford of Boise, Idaho; her daughter Ricky Whiteman and son-in-law Bob Whiteman of Reedsport, Oregon; her daughter Wendy Marks and son-in-law Kurt Marks of Richland, Oregon; her step-daughter Marcella Crawford of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and her step-daughter DeeDee Jones and step-son-in-law Jerry Jones of Klamath Fall, Oregon. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ruby Ward.
