Lance Able Pierce, 24, of Gresham, Oregon passed away on December 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A Celebration of Life and potluck to honor Lance and his mother Leslie Lakings who passed away on November 24, 2017, will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Club – Post #3048 in Baker City, Oregon.
Lance was born in Newport, Oregon on May 1, 1993 to Leslie Lakings and Allen Pierce.
Lance was a special, unique individual. From an early age his family knew he would accomplish great things. His greatest gift was teaching, he taught many how to communicate with actions not words and that it’s okay to be different. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met in a positive way. Lance “lived in the moment”, writing his own rules and telling his own stories. Lance beat unbeatable odds paving the way for others. He fought a good fight all his life with his many disabilities but he showed all, never to underestimate him. His final battle with cancer was just too much for him.
Lance had a deep unspoken bond with his mother Leslie Lakings, his grandmother Bobbie and the rest of the village “he” raised.
He is survived by his aunts Gwendolyn Cullum of Baker City, Oregon and Samantha (Sam) Lakings of Canyonville, Oregon; his uncles David Lakings of Chiniak, Alaska and Donald Lakings of Washington; cousins Andrea, Michelle, Salena, Sarena, Willow, Deliah, Waylon, Brittney, Katelynn and Jami; his extended family Darrin and Tami Schenk and Jose and Sonya of Gresham, Oregon.
Lance was preceded in death by his mother Leslie Lakings, his grandmother Bobbie and his cousin Bobby.
Memorial contributions in honor of Lance may be made directly to Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Avenue, Baker City, Oregon 97814 to assist the family with expenses.
